We live in such a beautiful city and I for one don’t get out on the river enough, which is why I so was excited to check out Perth Waterbike Co and experience Perth’s newest water sport activity… and what an awesome way to see the city and explore the Swan!
It was so refreshing to be out on the water and stunning to have Perth’s beautiful cityscape as a backdrop. They say being out in nature can help you relax and de-stress and in the current climate, we all need a bit of this! With everything that’s going on in the world right now, this is also a good safe option away from the crowds, to enjoy some fresh air and still spend some quality time with friends and family doing something unique!
Perth Water Bike Co, which based in South Perth, launched earlier this year and is proudly Western Australian owned and operated. Run by a lovely and charismatic husband and wife duo, they were also the first to introduce Chiliboat Waterbikes to our Perth waterways… and I’m so glad they did!
We found these high-performance water bikes incredibly stable and easy to operate. And rest assured there’s no chance of saddle soreness either, as they are fitted with very comfortable reclining seats that adjust to suit your height. The catamaran configuration means they are almost impossible to capsize (phew) and I loved how pedalling felt effortless due to the low resistance, so no sore or tired legs!
We left from Point Belchers and cruised over to Elizabeth Quay before setting off to South Perth. At full throttle, we managed about 9km/hr, though perhaps more to do with our fitness levels than the bikes, which can apparently reach in the vicinity of 15km/hr.
Perth Waterbike Co also operates over on Rottnest as Aquaplay Rottnest. The bikes there are a slightly different model utilising the traditional bicycle position so you are more elevated to enjoy the crystal clear waters and see what lies beneath.
Perth Waterbike Co offers a number of awesome packages starting at just $30/ person, and are currently running a special for four people half an hour for just $100! So whether you want to do a workout along the Swan, relax with friends, give your colleagues a unique team-building experience or organise a fun activity for the whole family, Perth Waterbike Co has you covered!
So look out for the bright yellow bikes!
