Get ready for the Lotterywest Avon Descent Festivals!
Experience the thrill of Western Australia’s unique paddle and powerboat sporting event, the Avon Descent. First held in 1973, competitors will challenge the Avon and Swan Rivers in a two-day adventure over 124 kilometers, starting in Northam on Saturday 9 August.
These exciting events are perfect for all ages, offering a fantastic opportunity for family and friends to enjoy the outdoors and connect with the local community. The Festivals are held annually on the second weekend in August alongside the Avon Descent.

Celebrate Carnival at Northam Bilya Festival
(Friday, 8th August 2025)
Head to Shire of Northam to experience the wonders of Carnival and the annual street parade. Come and celebrate the start of the Avon Descent, with mini jets on the water from 4pm.

Experience Winter Wonderland at City of Swan Avon Descent Festival
(Sunday, 10th August 2025)
Score a prime vantage point to watch the Avon Descent at the city of swan Avon Descent Festival. Enjoy the local artisan markets, winter wonderland ice rink and snow area display. There’s also free rides for kids!

Enjoy the Thrilling Finish at City fo Bayswater Finishing Line Festival

Enjoy live entertainment and amusements for the whole family from 11am at the City of Bayswater Finish Line Festival, and watch the participants cross the line. Family celebration awaits with free entertainment, RAC Helicopter experiences, roving performers, enjoy food trucks and market stalls.
