If you’re craving another heartwarming claymation from the brilliant mind behind Mary and Max and Harvie Krumpet, you’re in luck. Adam Elliot has done it again. His latest movie is Memoir of a Snail… and he’s absolutely sNAILED it!

Elliot brings to life the quirky, lovable Grace Pudel and her intense fascination with snails… and hoarding!

Memoir of a Snail is a poignant tale packed with themes of friendship, angst, and the raw emotions of grief, taking audiences on an unforgettable emotional journey from start to finish.

And crikey, are we lucky to have such an all-star Australian voice cast! With talent like Sarah Snook, Eric Bana, and Magda Szubanski, it’s a nostalgic feast for the ears, especially as the story is set in the 1970s, featuring iconic Aussie brands that will make you smile.

We had the pleasure of attending the premiere which ended with a hilarious Q&A with the man himself. It had us hoping hoping that claymation won’t become a lost art!

The dedication behind this film is mind-blowing. It took a staggering seven years to create! Three of those years were spent crafting the perfect script as Elliot dove into the psychology of hoarding. His efforts paid off as he managed to capture Grace’s character flawlessly.

With nearly 7,000 props and no CGI (yes, even the fire was made from cellophane!), it’s no wonder Adam Elliot has an Academy Award under his belt.

You can catch Memoir of a Snail at Luna Palace Leederville from 17th October. You can also view some of the props from the movie at Luna Palace Leederville. Just don’t be as slow as a snail to grab your tickets!
