Picture this: you’re on a night out with your mates in Northbridge, and you duck into a convenience store to grab a snack and a packet of gum. Then, you hear the muffled sound of music coming from beyond the wall, where upon opening a seemingly functional fridge, you’re met with a wicked live music venue.
Well, stop imagining! On the site of the old Nandos on Lake Street, Perth’s newest live music venue Convenients is set to open its doors this weekend (April 10th), and it’s going to be epic. Designed as a contemporary speakeasy, the venue’s main attractions are nestled and hidden inside a fully operational 7-Eleven storefront. The convenience store will be strategically stocked with local band merchandise and posters as hints to where the main action is hidden.

Inside Convenients, tap brews from Feral Brewing Co and tasty burgers from the kitchen will keep patrons well fed and hydrated throughout the evenings while enjoying the venue’s fantastic live music from local musicians.
Awesome fact to note; the venue was actually constructed and brought to life with the help of Perth’s very own musicians!

Locals supporting Locals
Matt Hatton (a.k.a. the Mad Hatter himself) from Mad Hatter Productions is the brains behind this epic new endeavour. The goal is to provide more opportunities for diverse Australian artists to showcase their music to west Australian audiences in the wake of COVID-19.
In addition, Hatton aims to provide further performing opportunities for these local artists in an already competitive environment, saturated with extraordinary talent. The addition of Convenients to Perth’s live music landscape will strengthen touring circuits, foster further industry collaboration and activate networks across the country.
Convenients will be having a pre-opening event tomorrow night to prep the venue before their grand opening on April 10th. Head to their socials to lookout for the entry password.
With borders closed for the time being and so much WA talent bound at home, there’s guaranteed to be epic gigs coming to you soon from Convenients.
