1. The Purist Collection

The Purist Collection is a luxury, Freo-based range of therapeutic skincare, teas and candles for body, home and soul.

Using her knowledge as a qualified naturopath, owner and founder Emily Bathgate hand makes products infused with therapeutic medicinal herbs, and formulated with specific ailments in mind so that you can be sure these 100% vegan products actually work in nourishing your skin and body.

Emily founded The Purist Collection after her mum was diagnosed with a genetically-linked cancer.  This fuelled her desire to take control of her health and lead her down a path of research into the chemicals, additives and preservatives found in traditional skincare options  Emily struggled to find skincare that didn’t contain harsh parabens and synthetic ingredients and decided to formulate her own products that compliment her ethos of pure, natural therapies and beauty from the inside, out.

Making waves in the natural beauty sphere, The Purist Collection was recently picked up by major online retailer, The Iconic.  You can also shop online at www.thepuristcollection.com and stay up to date with new products via Instagram @thepuristcollection

2. The Bod Society

Local founder and creator Christie McGann began making her own natural skincare in early 2017, after her Father was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

She created her own natural skincare to help soothe her Dad’s irritated and inflamed skin, a side effect of his chemotherapy and radiotherapy regime. The first Bod Society products were body oil, body scrub and bath soak.

The range has now expanded to include lip balms, facial skincare, moisturisers, a mens range and baby line – which Christie credits to helping her and husband, Blake in their journey to conceive their son via IVF.

Vegan certified, cruelty free certified, 100% plant based and natural ingredients, the real kicker is that around 70% of The Bod Society packaging is biodegradable or compostable and the rest is recyclable glass or aluminium, the only plastic packaging is some of the product lids.  The entire range is hand made from their factory in Forrestdale, here in Perth.

To keep products as fresh as can be, new collections are released online on the first Monday of every month at 6am AWST.

With their pre-Christmas drop scheduled for November 29 make sure you set your alarms because they always sell out, and fast!

If you miss the new collection release you can snap up one of their beautiful products at a local stockist – listed in their insta highlights.

4. Mokosh Natural Skin Care

A former medical scientist, veterinarian and pathologist, Marion O’Leary uses her science background in her natural skincare range Mokosh.  Mokosh formulas are free from the non-essential ingredients found in traditional skincare, in favour of pure, concentrated nutrition for your skin.

Passionate about restoring the integrity and truth behind skincare, Marion believes you don’t need a new product for each area of your face, that water is unnecessary in skin care, and that skin problems should be treated with formulas that restore its natural equilibrium. Removing unnecessary water from Mokosh products means that formulas are ultra-concentrated, making them last longer, as well as being free from emulsifiers needed to blend traditional skincare products.

With a strong focus on caring for our environment, business decisions at Mokosh are predicated on sustainability and respecting our natural world.

They are a proud partner of Carbon Neutral and for every sale over $100, a tree is planted in a WA biodiversity hotspot north of Perth.  The beautiful packaging at Mokosh is made from recyclable glass and paper PLUS they will kindly recycle all your packaging through Terracyle at no cost to you.

You can read more about their Plant-A-Tree campaign and other causes that Mokosh supports on their community page.

The range includes face and body care and luxurious soaps and all products are certified palm oil free (which helps protect rainforests and endangered plants and animals), and all skin care is 100% certified organic, too.

6. Sodashi Skincare

Honorable mention must go to one of the leaders when it comes to local beauty brands, not just in Perth but internationally, Sodashi Skincare.  A now-global and iconic skincare brand, Sodashi was first launched in 2000 by owner Megan Larsen who sought to create products that nourish the skin on every level.

The name Sodashi means wholeness, purity and radiance and this conveys the vision behind the brand – a holistic approach to beauty that involves more than just skin care; but rather a total experience that works to nurture the mind, body, spirit and emotions.

In the years since it’s launch, Sodashi has become synonymous with luxury when it comes to natural skincare and beauty brands.  Their products are stocked in some of the world’s most opulent spas and salons and are a testament to the power that pure botanicals and natural ingredients behold.

The brand focused on celebrating the alchemy of natural ingredients, with small batch production carried out on-site in their Fremantle premises.

7. Alit Cosmetics

The journey for Alit Cosmetics began 7 years ago from owner Alit Caro’s desire to find makeup that wasn’t full of synthetic chemicals, didn’t feel ‘cakey’ and mostly – just made her feel like herself.

Suffering from hormonal acne, Alit felt more comfortable wearing makeup in everyday life, however; struggled to find department store products that were simple to use and didn’t lead to further breakouts.

Alit was born of this desire for makeup to be made from pure, natural ingredients and be a simple, no-fuss inclusion to morning routines for the everyday woman.  The brand encourages consumers to be curious and seek transparency around the ingredients that go into their fave beauty products and where they originate.

The extensive range includes all the products you need to create your favourite everyday makeup as well as dazzling full-glam looks. Alit also produces skincare designed to create dewy, glowing skin as the perfect base – with, or without makeup.

Made locally at their studio in North Perth, Alit products include nourishing natural ingredients like macadamia oil, vitamin E and grapefruit extract. The range is elegantly presented in glass jars or bottles, all paper used is 100% recycled and boutiques offer only paper bags to help encourage a more sustainable lifestyle.

Stop by their gorgeous studio on Walcott Street to meet the team and experience their luxury products for yourself.  You can catch a glimpse BTS on their Instagram @alitcosmetics or shop the entire range and see their swag of awards and accolades over on their website www.alitcosmetics.com.au

So, if environmental impact, supporting local and finding natural alternatives to traditional beauty products have been registering on your radar of late, why not consider making the switch to one of the exquisite vegan beauty brands we are so fortunate to find right on our doorstep.
