Not one to hit the nightclubs anymore (yes I am a grandma at 23!), Perth bar crawls are now one of my favourite ways to spend a night out in Perth City. Fun and adventurous, it’s a great way to see some of Perth’s best bars and try a list of drinks that will leave you with a headache the next day. I’ve put together a list of my 5 favourite must-see bars to help you plan an epic night out!
1. Joe’s Juice Joint – 232 William Street, Northbridge
One of my personal faves, Joe’s Juice Joint is a rock n’ roll den not for the faint-hearted. Voted as the best dive bar in the world in 2019 by global travel company Big 7 Travel, Joes Juice Joint beat a tonne of international hotspots for the number one spot. Specialising in classic rock, you’ll find live music, pinball machines, free peanuts (most of which end up on the floor!), and a bangin’ list of drinks – my go-to is the Cherry Cola. They are one of the only bars to stay open until 4am on Fridays and Saturdays and makes for the perfect spot to end your night!

2. Ezra Pound – 189 William Street, Northbridge
Found down a laneway is Ezra Pound, a must-see stopover for your Perth bar crawl. With seating both inside and out, Ezra Pound gives off trendy, moody vibes with a heap of leather couches and velvet chairs that will make you feel right at home. With an epic cocktail list, Ezra Pound offers up great drinks with great company in an intimate, artsy location. With a huge focus on leaving your attitude at the door, treating ladies with respect and the staff as your hosts, Ezra Pound will not disappoint!

3. Sneaky Tony’s – Northbridge
As the name suggests, Sneaky Tony’s is a mysterious speakeasy bar hidden among the alleyways in Northbridge. Once found, you’ll need the password to enter, which can be found on their Facebook or Instagram page, giving a nod to an era of underground bars and sneaky drinks. Heading inside you’ll find a huge selection of rum-based drinks with over 300 bottles of rum from all corners of the globe. Make sure to check out Sneaky Tony’s before the clock strikes 12 and they close their doors for the night.

4. Mechanics Institute – 222 William Street, Northbridge
Boasting some of the friendliest bartenders in Perth, the Mechanics Institute pays homage to a time when Mechanics Institutes were established in the 1800’s to provide adult education to working men. Nestled amongst heritage rooftops, Mechanics Institute offers drinks made with expert care and knowledge, with an outdoors rooftop area littered with wooden tables perfect for catchups with mates and first dates. Closing at 12, you can order Flipside Burgers at the bar alongside your drinks for a late-night snack.

5. Lucy’s Love Shack – 104 Murray Street, East Perth
Lucy’s Love Shack was created by the masterminds behind Jack Rabbit Slims. With the ethos ‘Rock Out with No Lock Out’, here you’ll find grungy live music and drool-worthy late-night pizza to satisfy until 5am- soon to be Perth bar crawl royalty. Get your happy hour on from 6-8pm every day and sling some pool for a night full of old-school charm. As a nod to Lucifer (Lucy) himself, bar-goers are encouraged to listen to ‘the little devil on your shoulder telling you that you should have another beer or buy a whole pizza even though you’ll feel terrible in the morning”. My kinda place!
