You may have heard it on the grapevine… and the rumours are true!

The old Inglewood favourite, The Civic Hotel, is getting a brand new makeover. Located on the iconic Beaufort Street strip in the heart of Inglewood, The Civic Hotel has a history of hosting some of the best local and interstate musical acts. What’s even more exciting is that part of the venue’s revival will include the addition of Milk Bar – a themed band room reminiscent of the legendary 1970s Australian rock era.

From punk to indie, Milk Bar will be dedicated to hosting and celebrating all forms of the rock genre. So whether it’s a throwback to the good old days or a dive into the new age of Australian rock, we can all look forward to enjoying talented artists both old and new.

If you’re wondering who’s responsible for the rebranding, you’ll have the national hospitality group Australian Venue Co to thank. Having bought the hotel back in 2019, the team’s vision was to breathe new life into the space – and they’re doing exactly that with a production upgrade, interior facelift and new direction in programming. They’ve also partnered and consulted with Bespoke Touring to enhance the space and ensure the spirit of the venue is upheld.

As State Manager of Australian Venue Co, Joe Baily, said, “After welcoming The Civic Hotel into the Australian Venue Co family in 2019, we felt the venue needed a reset and we wanted to be a part of the local live music scene. By reinvigorating the band room and introducing it as Milk Bar, we can put our own stamp on the local music community, which also allows us to support the industry following the fallout from COVID-19. The Civic Hotel has always had a well-known band room, but over the years, it has lost some of its spark. The Milk Bar rebrand will be a breath of fresh air and will bring it back to the forefront of people’s minds as we ready ourselves to be one of the best live music venues in Perth.”

In a soft opening of the venue, the first official show at Milk Bar will be taking place on October 2 with beloved indie rockers Sly Withers kicking things off.

Even better, you can win a double pass to your gig of choice in 2020 with a $100 bar tab. To enter, head on over to bit.ly/MilkBarCompetition to enter. Winners will be randomly drawn and announced on 30 September – so good luck!
