Have you heard of the Liberty Theatre on Barrack Street? It is an iconic Perth spot from yesteryear that was abandoned over 20 years ago. But she is abandoned no more as Otherside Brewing Co. and Crafted Events rebirth the space, breathing it new life with LIBERTY ALIVE, a new music and arts festival, Thursday to Saturday from 17th November to 10th December.
Because craft beer and live music are the perfect summer pairing, the main theatre plays host to Triple J favourites like Methyl Ethel and Alter Boy, as well as the WAAPA Gospel Choir and WA Badass Gospel Choir, whilst the rear laneway boasts sparkling bars, DJs, street art and food vendors.
The inclusive space is open to everyone with Perthians encouraged to “bring along family, friends, co workers and dogs.”
Al Taylor of Triple-1-Three told us this was a “once in a lifetime experience.”
“The Liberty Theatre was Perth’s first art house cinema when it opened in 1954. It has been closed for over 20 years and we can’t wait to bring it to life with an amazing lineup of artists.”
Liberty Laneway opens from 5 ‘til late, Thursday-Saturday from 17th November.
The Liberty Theatre shows 7-10pm.
Liberty Live, Laneway, 159 Murray Street Mall, Perth WA 6000.
