There’s never been a better time to plan a road trip to Katanning, with the opening of the renewed All Ages Playground.
Whether visiting for the weekend or stopping on your way to Denmark or Albany, kids and adults alike will be entranced by the iconic playground, located about 290km south-east of Perth.
Standing 10 metres tall in the centre of the park is the popular red spiral slide, which is now accompanied by a new 35m long, giant aerial walkway.
Catering for children of all ages, and adults young at heart, the park also features seesaws, spinners, rocking horses, swings, fort and tunnels, a climbing net, a 30m flying fox, 2.5-metre rock climb, specialized early childhood play area and nature-based play activities including fallen logs and stepping poles.
For those wanting a little more adventure, there is more to the precinct than just the playground, with a skate park featuring rails, halfpipes and parkour areas, as well as a vintage truck, historic windmill and Fly Your Flags – a showcase of Katanning’s cultural diversity – in the neighbouring Lion’s Park.
Treat the whole family to a ride on the infamous Steam and Diesel Loco’s at the Miniature Railway, which operates around a 700-metre track every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month.
The All Ages Playground and surrounds are open all year round and free to enter, making the park a standout on the tourist drive south.
