From izakaya-style eateries, to amazing teppanyaki bars, to sushi-trains, omakase and ramen, we truly are blessed with an amazing selection of Japanese Cuisine here in Perth!
Next time you’re craving some authentic Japanese and are not sure where to go, be sure to give these places a try.
Nobu – Burswood
Located within Crown, Nobu is the world’s most recognised Japanese restaurant and is known for its innovative new style Japanese cuisine. Esteemed Chef Nobu Matsuhisa brings his reputable fusion of traditional Japanese cuisine with South American flavours to create the unique dining experience that is distinctly Nobu. Open for lunch and dinner sessions daily, it’s the perfect spot for your next sit down dinner-date.
Yuki – Willetton
Located just south of the river along Collins Road, Yuki Japanese Restaurant serves up all the sashimi, sushi, teppanyaki, tempura, curry and bento you can imagine six days a week. Yuki is fully licensed and home to a wide variety of Japanese Sake, wines, and imported Japanese beer. With such a large selection of meals and drinks, it’s sure to satisfy everyone’s cravings. We recommend trying the selection of teriyaki – each dish is prepared with the special homemade Yuki teriyaki sauce.
Hiss & Smoke – Yagan Square
This suggestion comes from Perth Happenings writer Andrea. Inspired by the gastropub culture in Japan, Hiss and Smoke specialises in Japanese street eats and charcoal-grilled skewers. Expect teppan-charred goodness like saucy savoury noodle pancakes, butter garlic fried rice and delicious bite size skewers – Andrea recommends the okonomiyaki! They also have a very generous cocktail menu which is perfect for a night out.
Ohnamiya – Applecross & Myaree
Established in 1998, Ohnamiya is a stylish restaurant, providing comfortable dining for all patrons! Chef Ken-san established Ohanimya to share his love of Japanese food and aspires to provide guests will freshly prepared home-style food without cutting corners. We recommend giving their vegetable tempura udon a try, served with a mixed vegetable tempura. Both stores also do online orders for pick up where you can pre-order your meal before you arrive. This is great if you’re in a hurry or phone lines are busy trying to get this delicious food!
Ishikiya Japanese Restaurant – Midland
For those East of Perth, make sure to check out Ishikiya in Midland. Located on the Cale Street strip, the restaurant offers authentic Japanese food and is great for casual family dining as well as special occasions. With an open dining area, sushi bar and private function rooms, they’ve got you covered. They have a great selection of meals available but we recommend making sure you give their traditional octopus sashimi a try.
