A woman talking about dating and its perils in 2021? Sounds a bit cliche right? Yet this Fringe show is far from cliche.

Yes, talking about the struggles of dating is regular theme in comedy, but Lisa Woodbrook brings the two elements of comedy and music together in a playful yet hilarious way.

In her opening Woodbrook shares that she has recently experienced heart break- a sentiment most of us know all too well. This sets the scene for a show that is relatable and a far cry from moping on your own over lost love.

Lisa Woodbrook’s voice is something very special. Tackling accomplished singers such as Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse, you would expect it to be a challenge as both these singers have very specific styles. Not only did Woodbrook make it look effortless but she brought her own vibe and take on each song making them ‘Lisa’s.’

In this 55 minute show, you are taken on a journey with cheeky anecdotes, funny social commentary and a sneak peek into the world of being a single woman in an Italian family. It doesn’t sound like the easiest gig!

I was exceptionally moved by Woodbrook’s rendition of Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back to Black.’ With nothing but a spotlight, all eyes were glued to the stage. It is important to note that the connection between pianist, Joshua James Webb, and Woodbrook only added to a spectacular show.

If you are looking for an opportunity to giggle with the girls and spend an hour being thoroughly entertained, this is a must-see for any Fringe goer.
