If you have embarked on a new diet or lifestyle change, whether you have become vegetarian, keto, vegan, raw, paleo or some strange hybrid of them all (yes, I know that’s not possible!) then you will know that one of the hardest things about your new lifestyle is finding places you can still catch up for lunch with your ‘regular’ eating friends.

Well, at Perth Happenings, one of our favourite things to do is find and recommend great places for Perth-ians to eat, no matter what diet you have. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite diet-friendly cafes and restaurants to satisfy every kind of eater!

Karibu Café
Best for: Paleo, Keto, Low-Carb

Karibu Café,  located in Subiaco, is passionate about good food, great coffee and healthy living. Since opening three years ago, it has delivered tasty and healthy Keto-based food to the hungry and healthy people of Perth. The café has recently changed hands and the new owner, Alistair, is incredibly passionate about Keto products and continues to provide a great range of coffees and food. Alistair is looking to expand the current range of Keto products to cater to the growing demand of people seeking Keto-friendly food options.

Karibu Café is one of the only cafes in Perth that specialises in Keto and Paleo-friendly diet options. You’ll find items on the menu like Keto bacon wraps, low-carb keto cakes, Chia pots and heaps more, with a regularly updated menu, you are sure to find something delish. Plus, they have smoothies, iced drinks, coffees with heaps of milk and mylk options and of course speciality Keto coffee!

The Raw Kitchen
Best for: Vegan, Vegetarian, Raw diets

Located in a historic 1920’s warehouse, The Raw Kitchen has been a favourite in the Perth health-food scene, even recently taking out a few sustainability and business awards #humblebrag.
With an emphasis on healthful eating, sustainability and corporate-transparency, The Raw Kitchen is so much more than just a restaurant; they also offer workshops and courses, yoga classes, lectures, a kombucha microbrewery and even their own zero-waste store, plus they can host events and weddings at their premises! They really are a one-stop shop if you want to do the best for your body and the planet. Visit them at 181A High St, Fremantle.

 

Flora and Fauna
Best for: Vegetarian, Vegan

If you are vegetarian or vegan and haven’t been to Flora and Fauna café in Northbridge yet, you need to get your act together! This tiny café, tucked away in Aberdeen Street has some of the most delicious and gorgeous food in Perth.

You might have seen snaps of their food all over Instagram, because they take almost as much care into the presentation of their food, as they do into the taste. The result? Their food is absolutely scrumptious and totally ‘grammable, making this place a hit amongst Perth food-bloggers.

They specialise in brunch, take –away treat including delish cookies, cakes and slices and of course, amazing coffee! Best time to visit them is on a sunny weekend, as all of their seating is outside, but be sure to get in early as they are always packed! Visit them at 4/70 Aberdeen Street in Northbridge (next to Varsity Burgers!)

 

Eat Drink Raw

 Vegan, Vegetarian, Raw diets

Ever wanted to switch to a more healthy way of eating but just can’t be assed to make your own food? Yeah, we hear you! That’s where Eat Drink Raw come in! They started life as a meal delivery business specialising in raw, plant-based wholefoods but have since opened their own café in West Perth.

Eat Drink Raw’s goal is to providing their customers with top-quality food to help them look and feel their absolute best. Some of their specialties include smoothie bowls, raw dessert treats, cold-pressed juices, organic coffee and teas and of course an amazing selection of raw breakfast and lunch options.

Eat Drink Raw is a 100% wholefoods café, meaning everything they offer is free from any chemicals and preservatives, so you know that you are eating completely clean and unprocessed foods. Plus, they are committed to reducing waste; all of their takeaway packaging is made from plants and is completely carbon neutral and recyclable or compostable. They are also a part of the Responsible Cafe program, so every customer will receive a $0.50 discount each time they bring in their own reusable cup or takeaway container. What a great incentive!

Health Freak Café

Best for: Paleo, Keto, Low-Carb, Vegetarian, Vegan

Health Freak Café is the ultimate spot in Perth to go if you want to change your eating habits, or just want a relatively guilt-free way to enjoy a meal out. Boasting an amazing menu that is completely gluten and refined-sugar free, it’s easy to see why it is so popular!

No matter what kind of diet or lifestyle you follow, they have heaps of food and drink options to suit. At Health Freak Café you can enjoy delicious meals like Keto protein blueberry pancakes, Vegan Nasi Goreng, Roasted Veg Paninis, Paleo burgers, Acai bowls and a huge range of smoothies, juices, coffee options and teas.
