The WA Comedy All-Stars lit up the Heath Ledger Theatre with a night that felt equal parts polished and playfully chaotic—in the best way possible. From the moment host Luke J Ryan hit the stage, the tone was set: relaxed, cheeky, and ready for a seriously good time.

The line-up delivered a little something for everyone. Squirly brought laid-back regional charm, while Josh Makinda and Chris Pucillo kept the momentum rolling with sharp, relatable humour. David Hughes (writer for the Project) had the crowd in stitches with his no-filter parenting humour, and Thabo Tshuma delivered clever punchlines that landed beautifully. Nola Bliss added her own quirky flair to the mix, rounding out a genuinely diverse and entertaining set.
But the real magic came from two standout performers who elevated the night even further. Janelle Koenig absolutely shone with her musical comedy – witty, unexpected, and brilliantly executed.
And then there was Paula Norman, whose Auslan interpretation was nothing short of a performance in itself. Her expressions, timing, and physical comedy were so on point, she nearly stole the show, earning just as many laughs as the comedians on stage.
What made the night enjoyable was its energy. It never felt forced or overly scripted, just a room full of people sharing in a good laugh. It’s the kind of show you leave with a grin that lingers and feeling genuinely uplifted.
WA Comedy All-Stars was a one night only event – but check out the Perth Comedy Festival program for the other showcases on the roster.
