What a night! Perth Symphony Orchestra, David Bowie’s music and captivating performers paired with stunning projections all held together by acharismatic host, Joe Louis Robinson.

It was a bold, dynamic celebration of Bowie in all his glam, androgynous glory.
First, let’s talk about the epic venue that is East Perth Power Station. The raw, industrial backdrop added grit and atmosphere, perfectly framing this theatrical, high-octane production.
I’ve never considered myself a diehard David Bowie fan but it’s surprising throughout the show just how many songs I know, absolutely love and have been soundtracks throughout my life. This isn’t a night of nostalgia though. It’s glam rock perfection with bite, brilliance, and a boldness that still feels daring and vibrant.
Jessica Gethin, the conductor, leads the journey with absolute finesse, seamlessly blending the symphony with the vocalists so it feels like one cohesive, living performance. All the Bowie classics are here, Under Pressure, Heroes, Life on Mars?, and Starman. Each one brought to life through striking visuals you can’t help but get lost in. Honestly, it’s an utterly mesmerising show from start to finish.
The vocalists all offer something completely different so that the show is fresh and in no way just a Bowie tribute night.
Abbie May’s raspy vocals are haunting and captivating which adds emotion and depth. There’s also so much fun had on stage during performances of Fashion and Golden Years, performed by Matt Milford.
Meow Meow’s performance brings cabaret perfection, complete with fearless crowd-surfing that brings the audience thrillingly into the action.
And I have to talk about the visuals. They were unreal. Now, the Perth Symphony Orchestra and this world-class lineup of performers may not need anything to elevate the experience, but the visuals added a layer of pure immersion that made the night feel truly special. Each projection, moving image, and cinematic flourish pulled the audience right into Bowie’s kaleidoscopic world.
I have never experienced David Bowie like this before, and if you get the chance, do not miss it!
