⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We went into Swingers without any prior experience of Christian Elderfield’s comedy, and within minutes it was clear we were in very capable hands.

Elderfield is an expressive, physical performer, with facial expressions and movement that at times recall a Jim Carrey-style elasticity. He settles the audience quickly and confidently, easing straight into storytelling rather than forcing early punchlines.

The show unfolds through a series of smaller comedic moments that gradually build into a larger narrative. One of the real pleasures of the set is not always knowing exactly where a story is heading – only to have it neatly woven back in later. That sense of control and structure is a strong marker of a skilled comedian.

Where Elderfield truly shone, however, was in his handling of a repeatedly interrupting, very intoxicated heckler. Rather than becoming flustered or derailed, he remained completely unfazed. He acknowledged the interruptions, defused them with humour, and folded her comments back into the set without embarrassing her or creating discomfort in the room. Even after multiple interruptions, he was able to return seamlessly to his original thread, allowing the audience to slip straight back into laughter. That level of composure and improvisational skill is impressive and speaks volumes about his professionalism.

Swingers is unapologetically sexual in its content, but it never feels gratuitous or aggressively shocking. The humour lands because it is grounded in storytelling and delivery rather than simply pushing boundaries for the sake of it. The result is a show that feels cheeky, confident, and genuinely funny, without tipping into discomfort.

Overall, Swingers is a sharp, well-constructed comedy set delivered by a performer who is clearly at the top of his game.

**Swingers** – Christian Elderfield is now showing at Fringe World until 8th February 2026.
