Mile High Club: Come Fly With Us was full of turbulence!
We were welcomed aboard Flight 6969, with the destination promising pure pleasure.
Skye High Burlesque advertises a sky-high fantasy you won’t forget with the Mile High Club: Come Fly With Us. Our seatbelts were fastened for takeoff. The cabin crew, in their smart hosty uniforms, went through safety procedures, which gave us a bit of a giggle. So far, not bad.
Beneath the disco balls at Connections Nightclub, the cabin crew delivered sass and unapologetic chaos – although not necessarily in a good way.
We caught opening night, and honestly? It felt like it. The cabin crew seemed to still be in training, navigating their way through what was clearly their first flight together. While the show had some fantastic individual moves and undeniable energy, I’m not entirely sure it landed as a burlesque performance.
Traditional burlesque typically features carefully choreographed acts with polished stripteases, coordinated costuming, theatrical storytelling, and skillful use of props and music. The performers seemed to still be finding their footing, navigating what was possibly their first performance together.
While there were some interesting individual moments (shout out to wanna-be Pilot, Johnny for his amazing handstand) and undeniable passion for the art, the show lacked the hallmarks of professional burlesque. There was minimal choreography connecting the acts. Instead of a cohesive journey from takeoff to landing, we experienced disjointed segments that didn’t quite gel.
That said, the cabin crew had a great time performing, and their enthusiasm was genuinely infectious. The show attempted playfully cheeky moments with audience interaction, but these felt ad-libbed rather than intentional.
There’s raw potential here but the show would benefit significantly from proper choreography, technical polish, and professional direction before it can deliver what audiences expect from a burlesque performance.
If you’re considering attending, you might want to wait until the production has had time to develop and refine. In its current state, Flight 6969 hasn’t yet earned its wings.
Mile High Club: Come Fly With Us is now showing at Fringe World until 1st February 2026.
