⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Magic Dale’s FUNTASTIC Family Show is the kind of children’s Fringe show that instantly puts both kids and adults at ease, and that is very clearly by design.
From the moment you arrive, it is obvious that Magic Dale genuinely loves entertaining children.
Before the show has even officially started, he is already working the room, chatting to kids, cracking jokes, and making sure everyone feels comfortable and welcome. It is a small but incredibly thoughtful touch, and one that makes a huge difference.
There is no awkward settling-in period, no moment where kids have to adjust to new lighting, unfamiliar faces, or the idea of being quiet in a theatre. The environment is already set, Magic Dale is already there, and by the time the show begins, the audience is relaxed and ready to enjoy it.

This approach sets the tone for the entire performance.
Magic Dale is warm, friendly, and genuinely tuned in to his audience. He notices when children are finding something especially funny and leans into it. He also lets jokes and moments breathe rather than rushing on.
Consequently, the energy in the room feels playful and inclusive, without ever tipping into chaos.
I attended with a three-year-old, a six-year-old, and a nine-year-old, and all three were completely engaged. The show is cleverly structured so that children of different ages are getting something out of it at all times. Mid-show, my three-year-old leaned over and begged to “see more Fringe,” which feels like the highest possible endorsement.
Participation is a big part of the experience, but it is handled with care.
Younger children are invited to use their own “magic finger” as a wand to help with spells and tricks, which makes them feel involved without putting pressure on them.
Older kids are invited on stage to assist, and Magic Dale works beautifully with them. He makes it fun without ever making anyone feel embarrassed or nervous. He has a great instinct for keeping the room comfortable and supportive.
The magic itself is varied and well-paced. There is a mix of tricks using cards, objects, and visual illusions, which keeps things moving and prevents the show from feeling repetitive.
At the same time, some moments are intentionally repeated so younger children can anticipate what is coming. That sense of “I know what’s going to happen” followed by delight is something little kids absolutely love. Magic Dale uses it to great effect.
There is also a surprisingly lovely message running through the show. Magic Dale talks about following your passions and doing what makes you happy. It is sincere, gentle encouragement that fits naturally into the performance.
For a first year at Fringe World, selling out shows is no small feat, and it is easy to see why Magic Dale is sold out.
His show is warm, engaging, genuinely funny, and thoughtfully designed for families.
If you are planning Fringe for kids, this is one to prioritise. You will want to book early when it returns next year.
