⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Psycho or Psychic is one of those Fringe shows that quietly surprises you.

You think you’re settling in for a quirky solo act… and then, before you know it, you’re deep inside someone’s mind, questioning reality, déjà vu, and whether the voices in your head are a curse, a gift, or just wildly misunderstood.

This one-woman WA powerhouse takes us on a rapid-fire journey through true stories, spiritual awakenings, animal instincts, and the very real confusion of growing up not knowing whether you’re psychic… or psycho.

Is it a superpower? Is it a disability? Or is it simply awareness arriving before the rest of the world is ready for it?

The storytelling jumps effortlessly between present day, childhood memories, vivid visions, and a rotating cast of characters, all brought to life by one magnetic performer with razor-sharp timing. Costume changes, physicality, accents, personalities… the skill level here is seriously impressive. Low budget? Yep. High skill? Absolutely.

Audience interaction is woven in beautifully, never forced, and by the end you almost feel compelled to jump up and volunteer.

There are giggles aplenty, with some hysterical one-liners. My personal favourite came from the belligerently bogan coeliac spirit guide, suspicious of a drink offered by an audience member. So unexpected, so laugh-out-loud, and pure Aussie gold. The performer somehow stayed in character despite my raucous reaction, which only made it better.

What really lands, though, is how captivating it is.

I sat there wide-eyed, mouth slightly open, hanging on every shift in tone and character as the story bounced between timelines and identities. Funny, uncomfortable, clever, and quietly profound.

The final monologue lingered, leaving me reflecting on mental health, labels, and the idea that some so-called “negative” experiences might actually be superpowers, if harnessed with care.

A brilliant Fringe watch, and a powerful reminder of what a solo performer can do when talent, courage, heart and storytelling collide.

Psycho or Psychic is now showing at Fringe World until 13th February 2026.
