Arriving sober, in daylight, at Connections Nightclub in Northbridge was a surreal experience I must say!
This is the place I usually reserve for late nights, glittery chaos and questionable decisions, so seeing it in a civilised, sunlit state felt almost like stepping into a weirdly innocent, other dimension. But honestly? It worked. The venue ended up being the perfect fit for this Fringe act — ideal stage and audience size, with easy viewing from any seat… and crucially, the bar was open and serving drinks, so… winning!
Immaculately dressed in my favourite colour , the fabulous Fantastic Ms Fox hosts a cast of local lovelies pulled from Perth’s drag, burlesque and theatre scenes. There were some very familiar faces in the mix.

This delightfully unique interactive pageant delivers playful (and occasionally a little raunchy) dancing, elite-level lip-synch quivering (as only true drag queens know how), alongside a steady stream of cheekiness, charm and big laughs. Beloved Roald Dahl characters are reimagined and thrown into battle, competing for ultimate supremacy and the coveted crown in Ro Dahl’s Drag Race.
Surprise guest appearances, random battle pairings and song choices keep the cast on their stilettoed (or steel-capped) toes, while the audience gets the final say on who takes the win. Democracy has never looked so fabulous.
Delightfully fun, wonderfully silly and an absolute giggle from start to finish… the only thing I felt missing was stereotypical “competitive bitchiness” you’d expect from competing queens to make it feel more “real”.
