⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We slid into Fringe’s Gold Digger tent with absolutely no clue what we were in for. What we got was a gloriously unhinged theatrical dream — in the best possible way.
The audience chooses the show title, and Macbeth Twisted was born.
Shakespeare? Arghhh… but this outrageously talented musical comedy troupe (five razor-sharp performers plus two phenomenal musicians) have been doing this for over a decade — and it shows.

Enter a womanising William Shakespeare, working medieval England with cheeky jokes and very questionable “quill” references.
The King, unimpressed, declares that unless Shakespeare produces a new drama, the Globe Theatre will close — and it’s off with his head.
Cue Anne Hathaway (the wife, not Hollywood) swooping in to find her wayward husband.
What follows is total improv chaos: witches, random pop culture drops, Austin Powers energy, and somehow Lion King vibes all mashed into the creation of Macbeth. The cast and musicians fire off completely made-up songs on the spot, and how their brains work that fast is beyond me.
Then comes the twist: the King is actually a woman!
Musical numbers fly with cheeky nods to everything from Wicked and Pretty Woman to Shania Twain. Shakespeare still loses his head, but love wins, a queen rises, and the finale anthem — “We Are Here, We Are Queer, We Are Shakespeare” — brings the tent down.
Impromptunes blends Melbourne improv with Australia’s top musical theatre, delivering genuine musical talent and lightning-fast wit in a thrilling, no-safety-net performance.
Every show is unrehearsed, unpredictable, and gloriously bonkers — no two performances are ever the same. This is Fringe chaos at its finest!
