It seems the Bang On Podcast is as popular here in Perth as anywhere else – if the crowds were anything to go by. The energy in the theatre was humming and when Myf Warhurst and Zan Rowe walked out on stage, the audience went wild.
Myf and Zan are beloved music journalists and have been friends for over two decades. The way they vibe off each other effortlessly makes you feel like you’re enjoying a girl’s night in with your besties. They’re authentic and seemed genuinely surprised and humbled by the audience’s reception.
They started the show with a quiz to see who the top fan of the podcast was and then got into the show where they ‘bang on’ about topics of the day. They have a way of blending the humorous and serious, making an engaging and light-hearted show about weekly news and music stories.
Special guest, comedian Janelle Koenig, regaled the audience with her hysterical story of meeting Nigella Lawson. Myf and Zan then settled in for the regular ‘Hot Takes’ segment. This is where they discuss topics offered by the audience, providing a lot of laughs.
Finally, audience members were invited on stage to participate in the ‘Faarshun Parade’. Myf got to show off her crafty side, with interpretations of high-end fashion accessories such as Luis Vuitton’s sandwich bag and American art collective MSCHF’s big red boots.
The evening ended with a meet and greet so die-hard fans could have a chat and grab that photo for their socials. It was a great night, and everyone left on a high. If Bang On Live comes back to Perth – I will definitely be back for more.
