We walked into the Gold Digger Tent at the Pleasure Garden expecting a fun night of circus… but Eye Catching Circus delivered something so much bigger than that.
This groundbreaking Taiwanese company has brought a truly special show to Fringe in Western Australia for the first time, and you can feel how unique it is from the very first moment.

#since1994 showcases a new generation of contemporary circus, blending theatrical storytelling with extraordinary physical skill while still honouring circus tradition.
This all-female ensemble of phenomenal acrobats had us completely captivated. Their precision, strength and control are incredible, but what makes them even more engaging is the cheeky humour woven throughout. One minute you’re holding your breath in awe, the next you’re laughing at their playful energy.
Created by Chih-Ling Mei, this is circus that goes beyond spectacle. It’s visual art with something to say.
The performers move within symbolic frames, often suspended and defying gravity, while exploring what it means to be young women today. When the troupe expressed their rebellion against social expectations and stereotypes, the emotional weight in the tent was undeniable.
It’s raw, it’s competitive, and it’s fiercely supportive all at once. Knowing these five artists are all under 30 makes their talent even more impressive — they’ll leave you absolutely breathless.
This isn’t just entertainment. It’s strength, solidarity and rebellion wrapped in world-class circus – so worthy of the standing ovation they received.
No wonder they were Adelaide Fringe winners in 2024. #since1994 is the kind of show you’ll still be talking about afterwards.
