When we scored an invitation to the Wedding of the Century starring Perth’s beloved drag queen extraordinaire, Nanna Bingo, we knew we were in for an absolute treat! Fresh from her Fringe comeback, Nanna was ready to tie the knot, for the fourth time — or at least try to.
There she stood, absolutely radiant in her vintage wedding gown and signature pearls, waiting for her groom.
Then, the dreaded phone call. Her beloved was running late. Cold feet? A wardrobe malfunction? The mystery only added to the chaos!
But the show must go on!
Armed with pens, bingo tickets, and questionable dad jokes that would make any father proud, Nanna transformed her wedding into the most uproarious bingo night Perth has ever seen.
Those coloured balls bounced harder than a politician dodging questions, while Nanna’s comedy shots fired at everyone: Perthonalities, Kiwis and even that orange American fellow.
Classic calls rang out: “Legs eleven!” “Two fat ladies—or should we say, Clive Palmer?!”
The carefully ordered soundtrack had guests dancing in their seats and singing out loud.
Here’s where things got properly ridiculous: when down to one number, you had to stand, legs spread wide, arms skyward and shriek out YOU BEAUTY! The lucky bloke who yelled “BINGO!” became Nanna’s instant groom and claimed the prestigious box of Roses chocolates!
Shoutout to the legends who dressed “Elderly and Dressed to Impress,” earning their spots in Nanna’s wedding album. Grey wigs, pearls, cardigans… and some even upstaged the bride in white!
