Check your social anxiety at the door for this one, folks.
A West Australian premiere, this offering from the UK boasts several awards including Winner of the International Festival of Fools, as well as the Bussan International Comedy Festival. Dizzy O’Dare’s 80’s Party Gameshow promised to be “the most outrageous 80s UK TV game show that never happened”.

And on that front, it certainly delivered.
Clad in his very brief pink exercise shorts, host Lesley Spangles took the audience on a wild ride, playing a 3D version of slots, an air guitar competition, and ‘Poop the Potato’, which is as ridiculous and unsanitary as it sounds.
If toilet humour and the like is your jam, you might be entertained. It was just not my idea of a good time. I spent most of the 50 minutes cringing and reliving my childhood trauma of doing my best not to make eye contact so I wouldn’t get called on by the teacher.
Unfortunately, for a show that is completely reliant on audience participation and engagement, I was left wanting. Calling an audience participant the wrong name throughout the fifty minutes despite multiple corrections is poor form. In fact it is probably the quickest way to lose a captive audience.
But perhaps it was an off night.
I imagine multiple larger groups of friends could make a fun night of this, as it would be easier to feed off the energy of the crowd.
So if you are up for some silly fun and laughing at yourself or each other, gather up a group of mates, put on your best 80s gear, maybe a drink or two, and let loose.
I just hope for your sake that they change over the potatoes between shows.
