⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and a half.
I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when I headed into Chasing Miracles. The advertising suggested it would be a blend of magic, illusion, and variety. Thankfully, the show quickly delivered on its promise with a series of captivating performances.
The venue, Perth Old Town Hall, was the perfect setting. It was spacious and charming, with a setup that allowed every seat to enjoy a clear view of the action, thanks to clever use of a camera and large screen.
Magician Taylor Morgan opened the show with some classic sleight-of-hand card tricks, showcasing his precision and skill.
One of the standout moments was his solo performance involving a balloon. And no, it had nothing to do with twisting balloon animals! I won’t give it away, only to say that it was like he could control the balloon without touching it. It was truly spellbinding and I still can’t figure out how he did it.
Taylor’s partner, Rebecca Foyle, was equally talented. She took centre stage with a routine that was equal parts daring and stomach-turning. Let’s just say it involved sewing pins and string. I’ll leave you to guess the rest… but a warning: it’s not an act for those with weak stomachs!
The show’s finale brought the magic to an entirely new level. But you’ll have to see the show to find out what happened. Who knows, perhaps you’ll be the lucky punter chosen from the audience to take part in this special act. And like me, you’ll probably be blindsided as to how the duo make it happen.
I was worried the show would be a cheesy magic act but Taylor and Rebecca’s chemistry, charm, and impressive skills make Chasing Miracles an unforgettable experience.
The show is family-friendly but parents should be aware that some moments may be a bit much for young children or the squeamish.
All in all, Chasing Miracles is a must-see at Fringe. It offers a blend of wonder and entertainment that’s hard to match. I give it 4.5/5—a captivating show with moments of genuine magic that will stick with you long after it’s over.
