“Well behaved women seldom make history”
When you think of a show about history, you might think of dusty textbooks or black and white movies.
Interesting content but dated delivery.
Bad girls of history shakes up everything you thought you knew about how history should be viewed and consumed.
DJ Carly Gray takes feminism, history and empowerment and rolls them up into one intoxicating, aesthetically captivating dance party. Honestly, it is the only way these women should be celebrated: with fun, excitement and killer dance moves.
The Beer Garden at the Court is the perfect venue to get you in the mood. There’s plenty of room to dance and some seating if you want to rest your legs. If you need some sustenance between dances, there’s also a pizza restaurant and a bar close by.
The music was brilliant, comprising well-known and easy to sing along to songs. However, what really elevated the performance, besides the excitement and energy radiating off Carly, was the stunning visuals that accompany the set. I left feeling pumped up, inspired and planning how I could get myself on the Bad Girls of History list!
This show is for anyone who loves feminism, girls who smash apart what is “expected of them” and having one hell of a good time.
My one and only critique of show (which is also a compliment) is that it wasn’t long enough. An hour sounds huge but it took the crowd a few songs to warm up and it felt like just as we really got into it, the show was wrapping up.
So make sure you jump in straight away and enjoy the show as much as possible, Bad Girls don’t sit on their heels!
