I love love, just like Terry loves love (for all you Brooklyn 99 fans out there!). No matter who you love or how that love looks for you, Valentine’s Day is something special for the romantics at heart like me. I hear you saying, ‘It shouldn’t just be one day’ ‘It’s all about consumerism’ and do I get it- sure. However, if there is any reason that I can see people looking all goofy with those loved up smiles, I’m here for it. So to help you out lovebirds, here are my hot tips for Valentine’s Day in Perth 2023.

For the music lovers

CENTRAL- Valentine’s Day free Jazz concert at Yagan Square

Valentines Day Yagan Square

Yagan Square will be setting the mood this Valentine’s Day with a Jazz concert in collaboration with The Ellington Jazz Club, featuring the smooth sounds of the Jessie Gordon Quintet.

It isn’t just the sweet sweet tunes that will be adding to your brownie points. Guests at the event can treat their loved one to Valentine’s Day themed gelato by That Little Gelato Cart and Wyldbloom Collective WA native flowers to preserve their lasting love. Krispy Kreme donuts will also be on site selling heart-shaped donuts!

Jazz, gelato, flowers AND Krispy Kreme… insert goofy loved up face right here.

For those who want to shout their love from the rooftops; here is your chance to have it displayed on the Yagan Square Digital Tower!  Enter the Street Eats Love Poem Challenge! Submit an original love poem under 50 words or less, and entries will be displayed on the giant tower on Valentine’s Day (14 February). One winning poem will receive a voucher for $100 for Street Eats Eatery. The competition is open now, and entries close at midday on Valentine’s Day.

No tickets are required to enjoy an evening of jazz, love and romance at Yagan Square this Valentine’s Day.

The sounds of crashing waves, the last rays of the V-Day sun lighting up your special person’s face AND Mark Tuner.

CENTRAL- Fringe Show- Dilruk Jayasinha- Heart Stopper

Dilruk Jayasinha Perth

Your partner not big on the mushy stuff? Why not head to a Fringe show of an iconic comedian, Dilruk Jayasinha and his show ‘Heart Stopper?’

It’s still heart related so ties in with the V-Day theme!

In Hindi “dil” means heart and “ruk” means stop! While Dilruk isn’t Indian, “Heart Stopper” is an apt title for his brand-new hour of stand-up, given that last year one of his arteries tried to hit the breaks on his heart.

Spoiler alert: he survived. His new show is about setbacks, overcoming them and manscaping mishaps.

WEST – Valentine’s Day: ROMEO + JULIET at Camelot Outdoor Cinema

Romeo and Juliet Luna Perth

Oh the 1996 re-make of Romeo and Juliet that set hearts racing for Leo and made Clare Danes the girl next door everyone wanted to be with, you are the ULTIMATE in Valentine’s Day date night, especially when you are under the stars at Camelot Outdoor cinema.

You’ll also have the treat of a live DJ to get you in the smushing mood (so many Brooklyn 99 references!).
