Revolution Park, Eglinton
Let the kids burn off some energy and then cool down at Revolution Park in Eglinton. This nature inspired playground is bursting from bottom to top with bits and bobs to keep the kids engaged and entertained for hours.
A favourite for the kids is one hundred percent the seasonal water play area right in the middle of the park. Running from October to April, the area is great for kids of all ages. The water is activated by a foot sensor and lasts for about 10 minutes at a time. I’d recommend bringing bathers or a change of clothes, because even if you’re not planning on them getting wet, once they know how to work it, it’s almost impossible to keep them out of there (Speaking from experience here!)
Several wooden towers line the side of the playground and are joined together by a rope bridge, a huge swinging rubber mat, a tunnel, and a few wooden bridges. There are two slides coming off the towers, an enclosed slide and an open, more toddler friendly slide.
There are two rock climbing walls leading up to the wooden towers, and behind them, a winding balancing path complete with logs, rocks, ropes, and rubber mounds.
Big and little kids will be able to rock out a tune on the three different musical instruments, and then sit and relax on the bird’s nest swing while their grown up does all the hard work.
Parents can grab a table in the shade or pull up a rug on the grass space and have a cute little picnic. This is a really popular spot for birthday parties, so if you’re after a table on the weekend make sure you get in early.
Be sure to bring the basketball for a game or two on the court next to the playground, there’s even score board for a bit of friendly (or not so friendly) competition.
There’s also gym equipment and a decked-out dog park just across the grass.
