Our 5 Favourite Dog Spots to Visit in Perth

Our 5 Favourite Dog Spots to Visit in Perth

By Leah Worthington

Are you a paw-rent?

As much as we love our fur-babies, sometimes it can be hard finding fun new places to explore with them. Well, Perth Happenings have some great suggestions for you, no matter your pup’s personality; here are our 5 favourite dog spots to visit in Perth!

Best for a social dog

Jack Marks Park is a hidden gem, nestled in a gorgeous neighbourhood in Highgate. It’s a great little spot for if you have a social butterfly, as the fully-enclosed park has heaps of seating so you can sit back and watch your pup play.

Plus, Lincolns 102 café is only about 2 blocks away, and they have a great range of drinks and snacks, plus they have doggy treats as well!

Why not take a stroll to the cafe, pick up a take-away coffee and dog treat and settle back to watch your pup play with all their doggy pals! There’s also an enclosed kids playground within the park, so your non-fur children can enjoy themselves too!

Find it at CNR Wright Street and Broome Street in Highgate.

Best for an energetic dog

If your pup is a little ball of energy, why not test their skills at Yarra Vista dog park In Jandakot?

Here, there are two separate, fully enclosed spaces (one for little dogs and one for big dogs) that each have their own agility course! Your dog can run, jump, zig-zag and climb all day long, and there is heaps of trees and shade to keep them cool. There’s also a kid’s playground, plus an open oval area to run around on (near the road though so maybe best to keep leads on here!)

Find it at 66 Dean Road in Jandakot.

Best for puppy playdates

Slate Café and Dog Park is pretty much a mecca for dog owners in Perth.

This extremely dog-friendly spot is famous for its weekly dog breed dates, where the cafe nominates a breed each week for a massive puppy playdate! There is a massive lawn/picnic area, indoor and outdoor kid’s play areas and a fenced dog play area for off-lead fun! And then of course there is the café itself, which dishes out amazing brunches, lunches and coffees plus a few Vietnamese favourites.

Find it at 12 Dulwich Street, Bennett Springs

Best for a family dog

If you want somewhere to take your fur-kids and your… uh.. normal-kids, then may I suggest Calleya Dog Park? This fab SOR spot has two fully enclosed dog parks (one for small dogs and one for big dogs) each with lush green grass and agility equipment so your doggos can play ‘till their heart’s content. PLUS for the other kids in your life, just down the road is an adventure park, complete with massive slides, swings, scooter and bike paths and even trampolines! All you need to do is grab a coffee, and watch the fun unfold.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention, there is also a great coffee shop (Mooba Café) just around the corner! Talk about a triple threat!

Find it at 3 Aniseed Road Treeby (inside Calleya Estate)

Best for an adventurous dog

If you have ever been bushwalking and wished you could take your pup with you, then this is the spot for you!

Ok, so this one isn’t technically a dog-park, it’s more of a massive off-leash adventure; Jorgensen Park Walk is located in Kalamunda on what used to be a golf course, so the walk is nice and flat with some slight down-hill and up-hill bit and relatively open and clear. But the best part is that it is surrounded by natural bush-land, which is perfect for pups who love a good explore and sniff!

Since it used to be a golf course it sort of loops up and down in an M-like shape, so you can make the walk as long or as short as you and your dog wish!

The total walk is 2.7 km and will take roughly 1 hour to do. Keep in mind that this intersects with some parts of the Bibbulmun Track which is a no-go zone for dogs, so keep an eye on the signage.

There’s even a kids playground and BBQ facilities at the carpark, so you can make a day of it with the whole fam! Otherwise, why not drive into Kalamunda (less than two minutes away) and have a post-walk lunch at one of the cafes that line the main street. I recommend the Croque monsieur and Hot Nutella at Jack and Jill!

Find Jorgensen Park Walk car park on Crescent Road off Mundaring Weir Road in Kalamunda.

Best for a salty dog

Okay so this definitely doesn’t count as a park, but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention THE BEST DOG BEACH IN PERTH!
Bold claim, I know, but Mosman Dog Beach is just that!

Located where Mosman meets Fremantle, just down the road from Leighton Beach, this dog beach is perfect for ocean-loving pups.

With white sand, little waves and heaps of bins (very important!) you must check it out! Plus, on weekends there is always a Mr Whippy parked at the entrance so you and your best mate can share a sweet treat after a day in the waves.

If you are after something a little more, you can visit dog-friendly Propeller which is only a 5-minute drive away in North Fremantle.

Find Mosman Dog Beach along Curtin Ave in North Fremantle

So that’s it! Was there any we missed?
