Renowned artist Rone has transformed the Centenary Galleries at the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) into a fully immersive experience with his TIME • RONE exhibition. This extraordinary sensory journey through abandoned rooms has
captivated audiences, leading to an extension of the exhibition season until February. Now, visitors can enjoy the next phase of the experience with the launch of TIME • BAR and TIME • DINING.

From 29th August, the exhibition will be open for extended viewing from 5pm until 10pm, allowing guests to enjoy cocktails and a small bar selection of dishes in TIME • BAR.

For something extra special, TIME • DINING will whet foodies’ appetites. Rone and his team have created a private dining room that features a new mural. This exclusive experience is capped at only sixteen people per service. Art Gallery of WA Director Colin Walker says, “we want people to be able to do things you don’t normally get to do in a gallery context, which is eat and drink inside an artwork”.

Guy Grossi has come on board, designing this curated dining experience that takes diners on a sensory journey through the passage of time. “I wanted the food to be opulent, special and feel that you were being transported into a place that doesn’t
exist anymore,” Grossi explains.

The importance of memories from the past is especially important to Grossi whose Italian heritage is the muse of his menus. “That’s part of who I am, it’s my DNA. So even for this, I wanted to have a connection back to my childhood, my background… It’s got to have some kind of meaningfulness,” he says

Both Grossi and Rone want guests to leave this experience with a memory of time and place that will last for years to come. According to Walker, it’s almost an otherworldly experience. “To sit inside a piece of art and be all consumed, and then when the music starts and when the lighting starts to reflect, then when the courses match everything about the feel of time itself, it’s just a deeply moving, exceptional experience”.

TIME • DINING opens 5th September and will be available Thursday through Saturday evenings. The first sitting is at 5.45pm and the second sitting is 7.15pm. Purchase your tickets here.
