It’s a pretty ingenious concept, really. Ply your audience with copious amounts of wine, all the while poking fun at them (and sometimes, yourself).

Comedian Christopher Shin charms the audience with his irreverent brand of humour, all while getting to know the audience, and feeding off their energy like a pro (which, of course, he is.)
If you plan on attending to actually learn something about wine, here’s a spoiler for you. You won’t.
You will instead get five extremely generous pours of different wines – I believe there was a sparkling, a semillon, a rose, a pinot and a shiraz? But I could be wrong – things got a bit hazy after the 3rd glass.
Expect some discussion on wine – tasting notes, terms such as fruit-forward, light-bodied, rose petals (why does everything have rose petals?), star anise – which I’ve decided I prefer in my Bak Kut Teh rather than my drink – so maybe I’m lying and you would actually learn something if you were a complete novice. There is even a short quiz, complete with prizes, for those who like a bit of competition.
What you will definitely get is lots of belly laughs. A consummate performer, Shin knows exactly how to tightrope across boundaries, and has a sixth sense of when to tiptoe back.
At one point of the night, after a bit too much poking fun at us audience members, he felt like he was losing us a little. A younger audience member said maybe he should tell a Gen Z joke. He said too easy, all he needed to say was 2 numbers- 6 7. Cue us groan-laughing.
He definitely doesn’t take himself too seriously, and you shouldn’t either. And if you do, well, he has exactly 5 whole glasses of vino to fix it.
An extremely enjoyable 5 stars.
