We’re pretty lucky in Perth to have watched, over the past 10 years, a great many independent boutiques pop up all over the city and suburbs. Something my bank account is not a huge fan of when I only pop out for milk and come back with a new dress and three pairs of earrings from the little store I just discovered while parking the car. And while I could write endlessly about where my favourite spots in the city are, I have a funny feeling we’re all just about ready to hit the road.
In a past life I was lucky enough to spend the majority of my time travelling all over the South West of the state. I can tell you – many an accidental shopping spree happened in the 10 minutes I had between meetings! Throw in a handful of trips up north and my list of WA boutiques worth travelling for is about the same size as my list of city gems.
The inner turmoil is real as I write this – do I giveaway my ultimate list of go to shopping spots and run the risk of you lot cleaning them out before my next visit!? The answer is of course, Yes… no… maybe. Ok fine! I just know you’re going to fall in love with these amazing spots – their owners, their stock, and of course their locations!
Some of the best fashion buying I’ve ever seen from a small independent boutique. I can easily fall in love with at least half a dozen things every time I set foot inside. Some of my most iconic wardrobe pieces have been purchased here, and I suspect many more will be I the future.
Life & Soul Boutique
A store that has one of the most perfect ‘head to toe’ vibes ever. I’ve always found it so easy to pull together a complete look when I’m in this store – shoes, bag and jacket included.
Hobo & Hatch
I have a serious love affair with this store. You have not experienced true down south fashion vibes until you’ve experienced this store. Proceed with caution – you’ll want everything. And the girls are so flipping lovely you’ll want to buy it from them.
Marine & Co
Well it wouldn’t be right to be so close to the coast and not revel in some serious beachy vibes. With pieces that can easily take you from a day on the beach to an evening cocktail in town, you’ll be mistaken for a Margs local before you know it.
Barney & Fleur
Heading inland, you can’t help but think about getting cosy. These guys stock such a fab collection of effortless classic winter pieces from boots to stunning knit ware.
It would be rude to find yourself in one of the most famous surf destinations in the world and not hit up a surf shop. Evolution Surf in Dunsborough have never failed to nail their buying, managing to mix pieces for actual surfers with fashion for those of us that just want to live the down south surfer life for a weekend. Note – I have bought knits and beanies from here every winter for about 6 years.
With a fantastic denim collection and their own label of completely chic linen basics you can easily loose an entire afternoon to this store. And just when you think you’re done you’ll spot a totally swoon worthy pair of sunnies that you can not live without.
There is something for everyone in this wonderfully stocked treasure trove. Think all the chunky knits, leather to fall in love with and a serious jewellery collection.
If, like me, your life revolves around overalls and slouchy knits… welcome home. You will get all the Seventies feels as soon as you walk through the door – think corduroy, fishing net knits, felt hats. South coast perfection.
My go to store after a spot of Lunch at The Endeavour. Is there anything better than a new surf brand hoody when you’re camping up the coast? Nope, nope there isn’t.
An awesome range of affordable and stylish pieces inspired by coastal life. They also have their own gorgeous beachy jewellery range – such a lovely reminder of your travels.
The most perfect spot to upgrade your road trip wardrobe. Stockists of some gorgeous activewear and luxe loungewear, you’ll be comfy in the car and insta snap ready when those epic views come round the bend.
