The Five Farmers Markets You Need to Check Out in Perth!

By Sasha Spiers

If you’re anything like me, you can probably relate to how easy it is to simply head down to your nearest XYZ chain supermarket to pick up your groceries. Convenient? Yes. Satisfying? Questionable.

Whether you want to start eating more sustainably, support local or simply after a fun morning out, it’s time to check out five of the best and lesser-known growers’ markets in Perth.

Western Suburbs

Location: Subiaco Primary School (271 Bagot Road, Subiaco WA)
Open: Every Saturday 8am – 12pm
Facebook: @subifarmersmarket

Since 2009, the Subi Farmers Market has had a great selection of local and fresh produce, food, drinks, live music and even a petting zoo. Shake up your weekly grocery shop with a stop by Strange Grains Gluten Free Bakery, or enjoy brunch with friends at the Shak Shuka Authentic Moroccan Food stall.

Located at Subiaco Primary School, you’ll be happy to hear that all profits go straight to the school.

Western Suburbs

Location: 103 Alfred Road, Mount Claremont
Open: Every Saturday 7.30am – 11.30am

Got dietary requirements? The Mount Claremont Farmers’ Market has you sorted.

With possibly the best variety of vegan, gluten free, dairy free, paleo and organic options around you’re spoilt for choice. Be sure to pick up some small batch jams from Little Farm Provedore or even grow your own mushrooms with a kit from Swan Valley Gourmet Funghi.

You’ll be pleasantly surprised at the great variety of farm fresh produce, food and even homemade goods including eco-friendly waxed food wraps and bento boxes. To top it off, market proceeds go to the Mount Claremont Primary School.

Location: Kyilla Park, Clieveden Street, North Perth WA
Open: Every Saturday 8am – 11.30am
Facebook: @KyillaFarmersMarket
Instagram: @kyillafarmersmarket

Need some new indoor plants, or to stock up on grass-fed beef straight from the farmer?

The Kyilla Community Farmers’ Market could be your new go-to. Some of the best stalls include Stomping Ground coffee, Roly Poly Farm and even a monthly knife sharpening service. Not only do all the proceeds go directly to the Kyilla Primary School next door, but the market is a great family day out complete with bouncy castles and a designated “Kyilla Kids Zone”.

Northern Suburbs

Location: 25 Cedric Street, Stirling WA 6021
Open: Every Sunday 7.30am – 11.30am
Facebook: @Stirling.Farmers.Market
Instagram: @stirlingfarmersmarket

Part of the Rotary Club of Karrinyup, the Stirling Farmers Market is the perfect Sunday stop.

Enjoy a tasty bao from T Sisters Fresh Foods while you take your pick from the numerous produce stalls including Regan’s Ridge for olive everything or Bookara Goat Dairy for delicious goats’ milk cheese.

Once you’ve filled your bags or maybe just your stomach, take a moment to soak up the live music while you sip on a well-deserved latte.

Southern Suburbs

Location: 60 McKimmie Road, Palmyra
Open: Every Sunday 8am – 12pm

From Pop Kulture Ferments’ potent vegan kimchi to A Little Bohemia’s beautiful flowers, the Palmyra Western Farmers Markets offers a refreshing selection of local artisan goodies alongside farm to table fruit and vegetables.

Pick up some unique handmade gifts from Macranay or try out some wholefood pantry staples from Scoop and Poor while you munch on one of All Grain Artisan Bakery’s delectable pastries.
