After hibernating in our Oodies and binging Netflix through a wet and dreary winter, it’s time to peel off the layers of snuggliness, stretch out our petals and blossom like never before. Ahhhh springtime! Symbolic of the notion that everything can begin again. Perhaps a time to take stock, thank the past, find an adventure and discover something new!

I’ve never been much of an international traveller so the lockdowns over the past two years haven’t been too hard a pill for me to swallow but it’s kind of got me a little sad at the prospect of it being taken away. That said, what I have discovered is that if you look hard enough – you can literally find the whole world, right here in WA. Check out our 2021 Spring Guide below filled with lot’s of different things across different cultures to keep you and the family busy over the next couple of months.

Armadale Highland Gathering and the Perth Kilt Run

It’s time to gather and celebrate all things Scottish at the largest Highland Gathering event held in Western Australia! You don’t need to be Scottish to take part in this annual tradition, so gather your family and friends to enjoy the visual spectacle of kilts, bagpipes and a medieval fair.

The morning begins with the fun and quirky charity Perth Kilt Run, the only fun run in Australia that’s done in a kilt! Purchase your very own kilt when you register for the 2.5km Classic or the 5km Warrior. It’s a fun run with a difference and you’re guaranteed to have a good time whilst also raising much needed funds for charity.

But the fun doesn’t stop there…

Following the Perth Kilt Run you’ll have the rest of the day to experience Scottish market stalls, highland dancing, pipe band competitions, meet and greet Scottish dogs, watch the hotly contested Heavy Events competitions and of course test your taste buds with the infamous haggis and other Scottish delights.

Let your imagination run wild in the Medieval Fair, learn about your ancestry in the Clan Village, and then kick up your heels with live music and Ceilidh dancing. You will also be able to enjoy some free activities with mini golf and face painting.

This year, the Armadale Highland Gathering is a FREE ticketed event. To secure your tickets, click here

Le Cercle des illusionnistes written by Alexis Michalik was awarded three Molières in 2014, the greatest recognition for theatre in France.

While the French football team play Euro 84, April’s bag is stolen from the metro by December. But the young man decides to return it to its owner! Destiny is on the move. Both will follow in the footsteps of Robert-Houdin, inventor of modern magic, and Georges Méliès, a great figure in cinema. Eras, places and passions respond strangely to each other. While life has fun playing tricks, will love triumph over illusions?

In this dizzying, award-winning comedy, Alexis Michalik, the talented author of Edmond, combines lightness, depth and wonder to question the magic of art in our lives.
