Perth’s Very Own Castle Cinema Returns

Perth’s Very Own Castle Cinema Returns

Put 2020’s lockdown in your past, because the team behind FRINGE WORLD Festival and Rooftop Movies are reopening the doors of Girls School Cinema with movies and more!

Set atop the highest point in the city in East Perth, Girls School Cinema is the ultimate hideout complete with an ultra-cosy bar and lounge, fresh mouth-watering pizzas and open fire-pits for marshmallow toasting.

To celebrate the season opening, Girls School is running a competition for the Ultimate Girls School Cinema Experience. If you win this prize, you and nine mates will enjoy a private screening, an hour to explore all the hidden secrets of the iconic building, with champagne and pizza on arrival plus bottomless popcorn! Purchase any Girls School Cinema ticket before 30 August to go in the running.

The opening night of Girls School Cinema’s 2020 season on Thursday 30 July will see Western Australian stories take the big screen with a special celebration of WA short films. The critically acclaimed and award-winning short films sets the stage for some of the incredible Australian feature films to follow throughout the season including H is For Happiness, a heart-warming comedy drama and The Australian Dream, the story behind AFL legend Adam Goodes.

The local love doesn’t stop there – the venue continues to proudly serve up delicious local food and drink with Mack Daddy’s New York Slice moving into Girls School, where they’ll be dishing up their famous cheesy pizzas, fresh and hot. Gage Roads Brewing Co. returns with their craft brews and MadFish’s superb Margaret River wines will be available from the bar.

Girls School Cinema’s opening weekend will also celebrate Harry Potter’s Birthday with a magical 2-day Harry Potter Marathon featuring all eight movies, Butterbeer for those wanting to raise a glass to our favourite wizard youngster, and quintessential quidditch in the courtyard.
