We love local Perth businesses. We support as many as we possibly can. When you can make the change to not only benefit your everyday life, but also keep it in Perth – well, why wouldn’t you! This is exactly what Perth Happenings’ owner Pieta did and couldn’t be happier.
As any Perth business owner or employee can tell you – a fast internet connection is the key to a successful and cohesive business! While Perth has been lagging behind the rest of the world (quite literally) when it comes to internet speed, we have recently found Perth’s up-and-coming, locally-owned internet provider – Pentanet. We have used these guys at our PH office space and couldn’t be happier with the speed, customer service and their story. Pieta is so happy in fact that she is changing to Pentanet for her home internet too!
Pentanet was founded in Perth by a couple of gamer mates who were sick of the slow internet speeds impacting their games, and decided to stop complaining and actually do something about it! Managing Director Stephen Cornish – who made WA’s 40 under 40 list in March this year FYI – put his house up for sale to build the first internet tower and created Pentanet – ‘penta’ meaning the ‘ultimate’ action in gaming and also five – paving the way for the next generation of internet. Since then, the business has been booming in Perth, with more and more Perth-ians switching to the locally-owned provider (including us at Perth Happenings).
One of our favourite things about Pentanet is that they are LOCAL; their headquarters are based in Balcatta, meaning that there are no dodgy overseas call centres and they are always on call to help us out if we have any internet issues (which we never do). They’ve said they will even send someone to our office if they can’t solve the issue over the phone! They are super passionate about the internet and hope to become WA’s first choice for high-speed internet.
Speaking of speed – their 120Mbps speed is actually faster than the NBN, meaning that we get the premium internet product! With eight of us maximum at the Perth Happenings office doing cloud-based work, we were truly amazed about the speed of the connection – and it never dropped once! It has streamlined the teams’ efficiency and the way we approach work, making it so much easier to run the business. Anyone else struggle with super-slow Netflix and Stan buffering? This is another thing Pentanet is fabulous at – making late nights up watching “Brooklyn Nine Nine” and “Peaky Blinders” stress-free!
What makes Pentanet different to other standard internet providers is their people – as they put it themselves “We are local – every one of us is here in Perth”. It is also their topof-the-range tech – their fixed wireless product is emerging technology, and they now also have the largest (and fastest growing) private network in the whole of Perth! They are currently in the process of building even more towers so they can further control speed, connection and reliability.
We love businesses that not only smash goals but actually care about the local Perth community.
Pentanet is not just your run-of-the-mill internet provider, but they are also striving to be leaders in internet safety by being the official partner of Stop Cyberbullying Day. With so much online bullying in our digital age, and this being a huge concern for parents especially, Pentanet are taking big steps in the right direction to minimise the impact from
the beginning. They are also the principal partner for Perth Lynx and Perth Wildcats – taking the players to schools, sporting clubs and community organisations around Perth to spread the joy.
If you’re looking to update your own internet at work or at home, the first thing to do is to check your office location or your home address on their website automated address checker; which is the first of its kind in the fixed wireless industry. This will then tell you what’s available in the area and what they recommend! If you’d rather talk to someone face-to-face, you can pop into their Balcatta HQ anytime during business hours – great to ask all your internet-related questions and find out what internet is best for you!
Don’t just take our word for it though, check out their reviews, see the impact Pentanet is having in Perth and why not only would you be changing for your own “slow-net!” sanity, but you’ll be helping the Perth community too.
