It’s no secret the last 6 months around the world hasn’t been the easiest, with millions of people locking themselves away, isolated from friends, family and neighbours – we have been left wondering what does Perth Summer in 2020 have in store?
Our favourite restaurants closed, our much loved festivals cancelled and that overdue holiday sadly put on hold. Whilst life at the minute still isn’t the same, Western Australia is a small part of the world where life is seen to have gone back pretty much to normal, with a few minor restrictions still in place. This blog will highlight the vibey events, venues and locations every millenial needs to visit / attend this summer in WA during Covid 19.
Cold Nips Community Swim
Yes, that’s correct you did not read it wrong. Cold Nips is back this summer and not only am I beyond excited.
Cold Nips is an experience Perthians need to do at least once! For those who don’t know, Cold Nips is a community based group who organises a series of early morning swim meet ups at a different Perth beaches once a week .With hundreds of millennials such as myself getting involved last summer. It is an experience that makes you feel so connected to the city you live in and a perfect way to start your day. The location usually gets released on the Cold Nips Instagram account the week before each meet up so give them a follow, bring a friend, bring a floaty and take part!
Factory Summer Festival
Ice cream, you scream, Perth summer is screaming that our favourite summer event series is back and better than ever! Created and owned by some incredible Perth locals, The Factory summer festival has become a yearly event series that has become a strong part of Perths cultural identity. Each year millennials party and enjoy a variety of bars, attractions, activations and performances throughout the period, with headliners in the past including Peking Duk, Jungle Giants and Example to name a few.
Located on the corner of the iconic Roe Street, this summer is forecasted to be the escape and celebration destination we all need to make the most of and reboot the city after lockdown with good vibes, good times and a whole lot of fun. Perth Summer 2020 – lock in!
Spending a day by the water, with a refreshment, a bbq, warm weather and some good company. Dosent get much better than that hey?
Well If that’s your ideal summer day why not try something different.
Located only 60 minutes north of Perth CBD, Moore River is a local regional escape offering not only a day filled with swims but many exciting things to do in the local town as well as within the surrounding natural parks. The area provides great locations for snorkelling, kayaking and its famous rope swing. Four wheel driving up in the Lancelin dunes is also at your finger tips for those seeking a thrill and the area also provides amazing camping sites. So if you are needing an excuse to get out of the city for the day and just pretend your on holiday, Moore River is the perfect day out in the sun.
The Fisher Beach Party
Nothing says summer like a beach party, am I right? Well This summer the city of Fremantle is kicking the season off with the Fisher beach party which is set to take place on the 29th of November.
The beach festival will be held on Freos South Beach and will contain headliner and MC of the event Fisher himself! Other phenomenal acts to perform on the day include PNAU ( Dj Set ), Books Shade ( Live ) and Maya Jane Coles. So if your looking for the perfect Sunday arvo with friends, good energy, some amazing performances and a golden sunset make your way down to Fremantle this summer!
WA Museum Boola Bardip
One of Western Australia’s most iconic cultural institutes has been under renovations for over four years and we are beyond excited that it will be re opening on the 21st of November!
The WA Museum Boola Bardip has undergone a complete makeover! Multi million dollar extensions include an array of new exhibitions that explore WA’s rich diversity of culture and natural heritage. The venue will showcase stories and perspectives from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as well as that of our multi cultural population. The original historical building has also gone under contemporary facelift. Its architectural extension was designed and created by international consortium Hassell + OMA.
Located at the heart of the Perths buzzing Cultural Centre, its a day out the whole family and every Perthian needs to check out this summer!
So Perth Millenials we have no excuse not to make the most of this summer in our great city!
Whether its a day at Moore River in the sun or a Sunday afternoon at the WA museum, with so much on offer there’s no place better to be this summer season than right here in Perth!
