A New Splash of Adrenaline at Outback Splash!

A New Splash of Adrenaline at Outback Splash!

By Bec Hyland

The countdown is over! Perth’s Outback Splash officially launched their new six-storey waterslide tower this week.

The new tower features four epic new slides including two body slides; The Wedgie and Gold Rush and two raft slides; Blackout and The Wall.

The Wedgie

The fastest body slide in WA and one of the tallest of its kind in Australia, this slide did not disappoint! It feels fast, and it is! 100 tonnes of water per hour taking you up to 75 kilometres per hour on what feels like a near-vertical drop. They even supply you with a ‘wedgie mat’ (which I took full advantage of) to avoid any embarrassment at the bottom! (pun intended). This is one for the real adrenaline seeker and I absolutely loved it!

Gold Rush

An enclosed golden speed slide that wasn’t as fast as I expected but still heaps of fun and perfect for my daughter- who wants to go on the big slides, but isn’t always 100% committed or brave enough for the super-fast ones just yet!

This slide features a sequence of pitch black and awesome natural light effects which are truly mesmerizing and something different to anything I’ve ever experienced in a water slide. I also loved that being in a two-person raft meant you got to share the experience with someone else. And it isn’t just a light show – with twists and turns and then a surprising final drop, Blackout has it all and was a firm favourite in our family!

The Wall

Based on all the best features of ‘The Boomerang’ (the No. 1 slide experience at Bali’s Waterbomb Park), this was definitely a crowd favourite. I’ve been on a similar slide in Egypt but loved that on this one there is a bit of a ride before the main event – the almost free-fall drop! It’s the only one of its kind in Western Australia and one you’ll want to go on again… and again….and again!

Splash Island, Octopus Bay and The Plummet remain to keep the younger family members entertained, whilst the new slides raise the bar for water slides in WA and will definitely appeal to older kids and adults alike, making it an awesome day out for the whole family!

The minimum height requirement for all new slides is 120cm.

Perth’s Outback Splash is just a 30-minute drive from Perth’s CBD. Guests can visit the park year-round and enjoy a variety of waterpark and outdoor attractions including mini golf, Australian wildlife (koalas, kangaroos etc) and a good variety of mazes!

Day tickets and season passes available.
