People say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but I beg to differ, especially on a ‘it’s almost the weekend’ Friday!
There is nothing more enjoyable than celebrating the start of a weekend with your favourite people on a Friday afternoon. Add in a delicious meal, said good company, then the highlight, a picturesque location in the Swan Valley and its a winning combo. Where is this magical place you ask? We are of course talking about Mash Brewing.
Mash Brewing has been creating extraordinary Craft Beer since 2006. Boasting two brewing venues, one located in the Swan Valley and the second in Bunbury, Mash Brewing are synonymous with amazing local craft beer. Having won a number of awards for the craft beers they produce, including gold medals for their Amber Ale, Mash Pale, Indian Pale Ale and the list goes on and on. It isn’t hard to see why this venue has also received recognition for being on of Western Australia’s best breweries. With a trophy cabinet full of award winning beers, it comes as no surprise that Mash Brewing is on the top of our Friday lunch list, because just like their beer, the food and service is on par and of exceptionally high quality.
Mash Brewing Menu
We eagerly headed out to the Swan Valley to experience this local favourite ourselves. The current lunch menu plays hosts to a variety of dishes perfect for the Friday afternoon. From entree to dessert, there are offerings to please even the fussiest of eaters and then some. From Hickory Smoked Buffalo Wings with a blue cheese dip, to an exotic Thai Crispy Noodle Salad with chicken, salad leaves, peanuts, herbs, roasted sesame dressing, its the kind of situation that leaves you feeling spoilt for choice. Looking for the traditional Chicken Parmy? They have that covered too -Tomato sugo, serrano ham, 3 cheese, mash slaw and chips. Mash Brewing is pub meal heaven. They have dietary requirements thought of too – simply ask the staff for gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian and vegan options.
I have travelled the world, and eaten some amazing food, but will never go past a traditional steak sandwich. There is something so very Australian about it that I miss when I’m away. I will happily share with you that the steak sandwich from the Mash Brewing menu is one of best steak sandwiches in existence. Picture this – marinated steak, caramelised onions, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, aioli – perfection! Something needs to be said about the perfect pub meal with the perfect pub meal chips, crispy and delicious. Well done Mash.
No steak sandwich Friday lunch is complete without a Friday drink, am I right? The sit down menu at Mash Brewing offers a range of drink selections; from a myriad of on tap craft beers that have been brewed on premises. through to a range of local wines, cocktails, mocktails, milkshakes and spirits. It was a challenge to choose what to pair with my steak sanga!
With food and drink that is nothing short of divine, let’s talk about the actual venue itself, who just like the menu is fun, quirky and very enjoyable.
Mash Brewing Venue
The moment you drive onto the Mash Brewing premises you instantly feel like your on holiday whilst still firmly in suburban Perth. Surrounded by nature, trees and rolling hills that touch the sky, this venue is situated in a valley that is overwhelmingly beautiful. The actual layout and venue design is industrial and trendy, with decor the suits the Mash Brewing personality who from time to time has proudly been known as “seriously, unserious.” The main dining hall has a vivid artistic mural and with upbeat music playing all round, to create what initially might begin as just a quick lunch, becoming an experience you won’t forget.
The outside seated area wraps around the main building, with more seated areas sprawled throughout the grounds in a beer garden style. The layout is perfect for a warm summers afternoon under the cool shade, graciously provided by the ceiling of eucalyptus trees that sway above. Last but not least, it would be a crime not to recognise the wonderful staff that give life to Mash. The entire team provide excellent service that is warm and welcoming and adds to this unique experience.
Considering a spot for a staff Christmas lunch? Perhaps a venue that caters for the entire crew? Mash Brewing in the Swan Valley is without a doubt the place to be.
If you love good food, good beer and beautiful spot to enjoy them both, be sure to plan your next Friday lunch at Mash and you will soon be able to see for yourself, just why its one of Perth’s best venues.
