Big Things are coming! We just couldn’t wait to share the two new members of the Pericles Kitsch Collection so we have decided to throw open the doors to the Margaret River Studio for a one-day event. Join us at Widji Lane Sunday July 4th, 2021 to be the first to see Leon’s new additions to the Kitsch Collection.
The series of 12 masterful etchings celebrates all things Kitsch. The new releases ‘Big Things’ and ‘Thongs’ join Leon’s classics Lava Lamps, Gnomes, Snow Domes, Trophies, Clotheslines, Flying Ducks, Spoons, Sharpeners, Whirligigs and Shakers. The complete Kitsch series will be on show along with an exhibition of Leon’s other works and as always there will be a few surprises.
Leon is a master printmaker, painter and sculptor often regarded as one of Australia’s living legends. With innumerable works in national galleries and significant private collections, a hugely successful 50 Year Retrospective held in 2018, and more than 150 solo exhibitions during his long career reflect Leon’s commitment and dedication to his work.
Through his fictitious town of Widjimorphup, Leon celebrates and satirises suburban and rural Australia. His attention to detail, keen sense of humour and a good dose of the absurd combine with his remarkable drawing and painting mastery to produce works which engage, amaze and amuse.
