Festibowl Rolls into Town

Festibowl is Perth’s original Lawn Bowls pop-up festival, running throughout the summer. Freshly cut grass beneath your feet, blue sky above, ice cold drink in hand, sizzling street food aromas wafting through the air and lively beats for those who boogie, it is a wonderful festival rock n’ bowl night out.

Turning lawn bowling on its head at the first ever Festibowl- Lawn bowling has long been associated with the older members of our society. However, a new form of bowling is attracting a younger audience. This March, Festibowl is taking over Lake Monger Recreation Club every Thursday for its inaugural festival.

Rolling into Lake Monger this March, the quintessentially Australian sport of lawn bowls getting a 21st Century makeover and you’re invited to be part of it.

Dispel any thoughts of a sedate game of bowls with players dressed in head-to-toe white and quite applause. Festibowl is eccentric, social and quicker pace, guaranteed to let your competitive side come out to play.

Of course, no modern festival is complete without some scrumptious summer food and drink. Head to the onsite bar for an ice-cold beverage, then explore the sizzling street food options including Korean BBQ, Jerk Chicken, Moroccan delights. Festibowl will be showcasing a fortnightly themed rotating food festival including Curry Festival, Fried Chicken Festival, Bao Festivals, Vegan Festival, keeping our guests eager to return again and again. Matches are free to spectate so feel free to kick back, relax and soak up the atmosphere.

Organisers of Festibowl, Jordan Sitaram and Ryan Mead from Aus Street Food Events said: “Barefoot bowling is the perfect way to bring people together to enjoy the Australian summer. We’ve been passionate about bringing this lively version of the sport to Perth over the last three years and we are delighted to be launching Festibowl, the first festival of its kind, in Australia this year. Traditional Lawn Bowls clubs are struggling for members and we hope that Festibowl is a reminder of how we should cherish this great Australian sport and stop its decline. We’ve had a great response from bowls clubs up and down the country, and we’re delighted to play a role in helping to bring bowls into the 21st Century”

Lockdown and the recent restrictions have finally been lifted, so it is time to bowl out of that office for those sunshine filled days and hit up Lake Monger for what promises to be a quintessentially Australian summer activity with a twist.

Perfect for the afterwork drinks, corporate events or fun Thursday night out with friends and family. Festibowl, Australia’s original Lawn Bowls pop-up, the best way to make a long summer night in the city feel like a long summer day in the country.

The pop-up bowling festival is equipped for a few rounds of bowls and an ideal spot for socialising, soaking up the sun and enjoying some drinks. The sport may seem chilled, but it can get surprisingly competitive. The simple rules and relaxed pace mean its accessible for all sporting abilities. Whether you’re a master bowler or a total newbie, Festibowl enhances the game with street food, drink and music. You’ll find that a casual game of bowls grows increasingly hilarious and high stakes.

The well-stocked bar will help you work out if a few beers or cocktails help improve your bowling aim, while the freshly cooked street food will soak up the pints.

Festibowl organisers, describes bowls as the prefect summer sport ‘anyone can play it, with or without a drink in hand, and it invariably ends up being an absolute blast” they say “we love to see people come in a bit unsure of things and then by the end of the game, there are people throwing themselves on the floor and cheering wildly!”

Packages are available to suit any size groups, with individual and group bookings for up to four people and corporate packages for your whole office. Do you have the bowls to be a part of it?
