Step back in time and be hit with a full dose of childhood nostalgia at Planet Royale.
This funky, pop-culture themed, retro-styled venue is situated within the old IMAX building in Northbridge and has been brilliantly transformed into Perth’s first-to-market ‘Adult Playground’ – propelling Perth to level up in terms of our city’s nightlife entertainment offerings.
Planet Royale has cleverly created a hub for an assortment of activities and entertainment for everyone on any type of night out. From Barcadia and Pulp Kitchen for a fun and immersive experience on ground level, through to Major Tom’s cocktail bar upstairs for a more intimate night out, to the main ‘crown jewel’ at Planet Royale – The Royale Theatre, which will host a variety of live gigs and events.
From the moment you enter Planet Royale, Barcadia greets you with nostalgic bright neon lights and the classic sounds of your favorite arcade games. Be amazed at Barcadia’s massive line-up of 42 taps pouring craft beer, wine and themed cocktails including Mario’s Ginger Mule, Mario’s Watermelon Crush, and Donkey Kong’s Jungle Juice. For the Tarantino fans, Barcadia also offers Pulp Fiction themed alcoholic milkshakes such the ‘The Wolf’ which includes delectable ice-cream, peanut butter, whiskey, salted caramel and caramel popcorn. After ordering your favourite drink or cocktail, it’s time for some old school fun playing arcade and pinball games. Barcadia is home to one of the biggest collections of pinball machines and arcade games in Australia, featuring old-school classics such as the Guns ‘N’ Roses and Led Zeppelin pinball machines, 1978 Space Invaders, 1981 Donkey Kong, Time Crisis 4, Terminator Salvation, and many more!
After an exhilarating gaming session, it’s time to head to Tarantino-themed diner, Pulp Kitchen. Sit back and enjoy American comfort food classics, such as the triple cheese Mac and Cheese or their mouth-watering 18-hour pulled pork and buttermilk waffles. Or if you fancy a more intimate setting, head upstairs to Perth’s newest Bowie-inspired cocktail lounge, Major Toms. Nostalgia will hit hard from the moment you walk up the stairs from the black and white movie-reel décor through to the VHS bar menus and old-school cocktails, such as the ‘Ground Control’ and ‘Yoko Oh No’.
Also located upstairs is the ‘crown jewel’ of Planet Royale, The Royale Theatre. This venue is set to host a variety of live gigs and film screenings with their first ever movie event set to feature Pulp Fiction this Friday 27th August, 7pm. Click here for more information and to buy tickets.
